GOS-Updater doesn't react on new update while another update is pending

I have discovered the following:
I tried to see what happens if my device downloads a GOS update (2025011500 in this case), but I wait to reboot until a newer update is released (2025012700 in this case).

What's happening is that when manually opening System update in the settings, nothing happens when I press Check for updates. What I would expect is either

a notification which says the device needs to be rebooted to install the current update (2025011500) before it can download and install the new update (2025012700). OR
download the new update, basically overwriting the old update which has not been completely installed via reboot yet (although I would assume that there are some technical limitations in this case which would make this infeasible)

But the current behavior is just that not even a notification appears when checking for updates.

This is just a suggestion based on my findings since I was curious what would happen :)

Snibby In order to install a new update, it would need to cancel the update it already installed. It could do this right away when it sees there's a new update and starts downloading it or it could wait until after it's downloaded and verified before it starts installing it. Either way, it would require significant changes and testing to account for this.

If the user didn't reboot after installing the previous update, there's a high chance they don't reboot after installing the new one and it just gets delayed further. It's best if people just reboot into the newly installed updates right away. Changing this has been considered but is a very low priority.

True, this probability is high.

If at some point the Check for updates section gets an overhaul to show status/info or progress then I guess the mentioned situation can be easily shown to users to tell them Please reboot first.

About Updates: I noticed that on startup, GOS checks for new updates and it's probably doing it before mobile data is available through the network. So very often, I get the "can't check for updates" error. A minute later, the update request is sent. Maybe it would make sense to add a few seconds of delay upon startup?

umbrin688 It already waits to check until the OS says the network has internet access. Did you disable connectivity checks?

thx for replying! I checked the settings and the connectivity checks are enabled. maybe it's my provider.
