Greetings,
I'm new to Graphene and having a fantastic time with it so far. In fact I'm enjoying it so much, I set up a job alert in case they're hiring a DevOps role down the road. The one pain point is that I'm using (and prefer) the open source Simple Calendar app, and for some reason GOS on my Pixel 9 pro doesn't recognize it to be a candidate for ics files, or even for a default calendar application. This gets me when trying to so something such as importing my flight info from the United Airlines app, as just one example. This all worked seamless on the stock OS.
I tried to get around this by having the ics file sent to my proton email, but when I try to download the attachment―GOS behaves correctly by looking for the right application to open the file type―but as notes above, it doesn't find or recognize Simple Calendar (or Etar for that matter) as an option. Humorously, the options I'm presented with are nonsensical: Termux, White Noise (sleeping app), and "Open Google Play Services." The latter two give me the expected "Unsupported file type," but surprisingly Termux comes to rescue! It downloads the file to /data/data/com.termux/home/downloads, and from there I can import to Simple Calendar.
I wanted to share this workaround in case anyone else runs into a similar issue, and also because I'm hoping someone chimes in with a better solution. But all that said, I'm loving Graphene so far and I'll be okay with continuing to do it this way if nothing else.
