Pixel 8 charger requeriments

I was checking the charger requeriments for the Pixel 8. Googles site states that it's necessary at least an 30W or greater USB-C PD 3.0 PPS charger.

Does this requirement exists in GOS also?

Rutgers you can use basically every charger. The 30W is an optimal solution for fast charging (27W limit).

Rutgers For example, I have a 1A charger at my parent's that I always use there for my Pixel 8.
Most people charge their phones overnight. Fast charging is more marketing ;-)

You can use most chargers which use the modern standards like PPS. Just don't use one of those old chargers which just supply 5V/2A since that'll make the phone's battery quite warm, maybe implying faster degradation.

Snibby that's not how it works. The conversion happens in the PMIC on the mainboard most of the time. There's also a lot more space to integrate failsafes. I have never noticed batteries getting warm from charging. It's usually the whole phone that gets warm, mainly because of the mainboard, not the battery.

DeletedUser87 You're right, I'm sorry. The whole phone will get warmer, but that naturally will make the battery get warmer as well.
When I'm using a simple 5V/2A charger, my phone charges slower but at the same time gets warmer. Best case this doesn't do any harm, worst case it does, at least long-term. So when getting a new charger, I personally wouldn't get a cheap one with only basic 5V/2A support.

DeletedUser216 I don't see any issues using a 5V / 500mA charger but it will be extremely slow. I would personally buy a modern 30W with PD3 and PPS. They can be had for 10-15$. In my experience the pixel hardware is perfectly capable of managing device temperatures while charging.

I'm looking for cheaper charger that I have for my P8P. Can anyone post if you actually can achieve 30W charging without google charger? I have 100W Anker charger model A2343, but it's expensive, about 70-80$. Anker said that it is compatible for pixels 6 to 7. I measured 33.7W power draw from wallet, 28.65W at phone input and 24.2W directly at battery input according to battery monitoring apps. So Pixel 8P is capable to draw 28.65W from this charger, close to 30W. I want to buy several cheaper chargers for my friends and myself.

Can anyone share your experiences with chargers? If you install "Device Info" app, there you can see the power draw. If you see there 25W, that's 30W charging. Google's 30W charging is right at phone connector. In phone is power conversion losses with effectivity about 84.5%. So 25W in app is 29.59W (25W/0.845=29.59W)

Btw Anker has 40W 2x USB-C charger for about 30$. Don't buy it like I did. Anker not tell you that this is 2x20W not capable to output 40W to only one port occupied.

It is the most compatible charger.

I have Anker as well. It works great. It has 2 USB C and 1x USB A, 65W max. which is enough for charging my laptop too! I purchased it on Amazon in a bundle with another Anker 20W charger for about £25. One of the best investment in terms of charging gadget I've done! Another good brand for cheap is Ugreen. I also tried other brands, and even cheaper alternatives but it's not worthy at all! It has either stopped working after a week or worse, it's burnt in the first week so be aware.
