  • WebDav/Nextcloud sync tool for Linux desktop

Hi all,
First of all, I'm sorry for bothering you with a quite off-topic question. I'm looking for a WebDav/Nextcloud-compatible sync tool for Linux.
I'm not too happy with the official Nextcloud tool but using third party tools causes at least some security and privacy questions, not to say concerns.
Would be great if you could recommend a trustworthy tool, ideally something that is available as Flatpak.

Have you considered using GNOME online accounts?

No third-party tools required.

Doesn't work very well for high volume syncing though (one of my use cases involved thousands of files being updated by another program...could not keep up).

Also works with KDE and other desktop envs.

Thanks a lot! I wasn't aware that Gnome Accounts is able to sync. Isn't it more like mounting the shares? I'll have a look.

Yeah, its like mounting a drive. Maybe not what you're looking for, but worth checking out if you haven't.

I had a quick look, the share is indeed mounted via GVFS and is accessible on command line. So I could create a small script for syncing by myself. Sounds not too bad ;) Thanks again!

Other than that, I found Celeste (https://github.com/hwittenborn/celeste). Feature-wise this sounds like what I was looking for. Not sure how reliable and trustworthy it is. Does anybody have some experience on that one?

I gave a short try to Celeste, but this was very buggy. Not usable!

Nextcloud support highlighted that the Flatpak of their client is NOT official/verified, but they are in contact with the maintainers of that flatpak and confirmed that official sources are used to build it.

I didn't managed to get it properly running at Fedora/Gnome. After switching to Fedora/KDE for other reasons, the Nextcloud Flatpak works fine now.
