Missing App Optimization Notification After Update – Bug or Known Issue?

Hi,

I've noticed that in recent updates of GOS, the app optimization process that typically displays a notification after updating and rebooting no longer consistently appears in the notification menu. Despite this, I can tell the optimization is happening because the device runs choppy and slow during the process.

In earlier updates, rebooting the device would sometimes cause the notification to show up, but after the most recent update, it doesn’t appear at all. As a result, there's no way to know when the process is complete or to restart the apps once optimization finishes.

Is this a known issue? Are there any available solutions for this?

SudoMason This release 2025010700 did not need any new app optimization, because there were no changes to relevant system components, so it was automatically skipped. Not all releases need app optimization. Are you certain it isn't something else your device is doing when it is choppy. Maybe an app hogging resources for a while after phone reboots? I didn't notice my device getting hotter like it usually do when optimizing apps, so I am pretty sure it actually didn't do it.

Interestingly enough, shortly later, the choppy feeling went away.

I turn on the forced 120hz refresh rate in developer mode so whenever the device doesn't feel like 120hz, I know something is going on in the background preventing it.

Since Android 15 the forced 120hz feels a lot less effective.

Anyhow, you're probably right. I just wasn't used to seeing an update occur without any optimization whatsoever.
