Scalable Capital app login doesn't work anymore

The following error message appears in red when opening the Scalable Capital app:

The app has detected that your operating system has been modified

Clicking on the "Login" button results in an endless loading circle without even prompting a form to input credentials.

Turning on "Exploit protection compatibility mode" doesn't change the apps behavior.

Sometimes this happens when the google stuff or the scalable app isn't up to date. Try updating, try logging in. I promise you sooner or later it will work.

requestprivacy After the recent Google Play update from GrapheneOS I could login into the Scalable Capital app on the secondary user profile without error.

The Google Play Store indicates that the Scalable Capital app is up to date and Graphene OS doesn't have any updates for the Play Store or Google Services. But I will try again as soon as there is an update for any of these and report back.

Some banking/financial apps have anti-fraud which blocks people if they are using an uncommon keyboard app or any app which has been granted the ability to act as an accessibility service or device admin. Also some block if developer options or adb are enabled on the device.

I am using the standard keyboard that is integrated with Graphene OS.
There is no app with admin privilages.
Developer options and ADB are not enabled.

BUT I figured out what is the actual problem which I describe here for future reference:

I was using the Scalable Capital app in a separate Graphene OS user that is not the owner. This seems to be the problem. If I use Scalable Capital with the owner user on Graphene OS the login in the Scalable Capital app works as intended and there is no error message.

As some people like to use financial apps with a separate user on Graphene OS it might be a good idea to inform them that some apps don't like to be run with standard users that aren't the owner. Maybe this could be included in the FAQ :)

MamuschkaBabuschka At least for me the Scalable Capital app works under a secondary user. I experience the same issues you have sometimes but they magically disappear after a couple of retries. Or after I update the apps like I proposed above. But definitely the second user profile isn't the issue I guess.....

Unfortunately I have the same problem with scalable capital.

After the 'play integrity check', a red text appears at the bottom of the app with this content:

The app has detected that your operating system has been modified

everything is up to date.

I also can't verify my login on the laptop.

luke3120 try do enable the setting "block usage attempts" in the "play integrity API" in the app info menu.
In my case it's working fine.

After blocking the integrity check the message is gone. Now I have to check if the 2 factor authentication is working.

If you can spare a little time, please contact your bank's customer support about the issue and bring it to their attention. The GrapheneOS user base is small—if we want to be heard and fight Google Play Integrity API, we need to speak up.

Let's fload their support until they unterstand their anticonsumerism!

Note that Scalable not only uses Play Integrity API but also has a UI message that pops up saying one would have a modified operating system

I did that, too. But I have another issue: I don’t see anything about Play Integrity API in any App-info.

My issues with the SC app are a bit different: I can login, but only if the app is not (!) running when I click on login in the browser. So, I have to open the app only after the browser demands the 2FA. Otherwise, nothing happens inside the app. For other things that require 2FA, it just doesn’t work. The browser waits for authentification via the app, but the app doesn’t react in any way.

I never saw any pop-up about the OS being modified.
