@Hi all,

GrapheneOs newb here.

I want to move from iOS to GrapheneOS, however, I am unsure about whether I should get a Pixel 5 or 6a. Would there be any difference from a security perspective? I like the 5 better as it is not too big. I don’t really care about the camera, my main priority is securing my device.

Advices are welcome!

    For this, I'll cite the official documentation of the project:

    Basically, you should get either a 6th or a 6th gen device at this point, because they're supported for much longer 5 years instead of three starting with gen 6) among other things.

    It's not really worth it to buy a 5th gen Pixel at this point if you can avoid it.

    I purchased the Google Pixel 5a 5G for its published battery life, which in my case, is amazing, but the Google Pixel 6a battery is meh.

    The support for the Pixel 5a is limited to something like 2025, but the support for the 6a extends to 2027. In either case, you'd probably have purchased a newer phone by that time, so I didn't let that scare me off the Pixel 5a. Consider, too, that the Pixel 4XL is still widely available. I purchased the 6a to give it a try, but the battery life is noticeably worse than the Pixel 5a.

      Please keep in mind that Pixel 4 and 4XL are officially EOL. Anything that they get from GrapheneOS from this point forward is incomplete, and the devices will be progressively insecure:

      Going with the 5a might make sense if you're okay with the fewer years of support.

      I personally use a Pixel 6 and I've had no issues with it.
