Issue Returning to Stock ROM on Pixel 9 with Locked (Unlockable) Bootloader

Hi everyone,

I recently installed GrapheneOS on my Pixel 9 but now want to revert to the stock ROM. I’ve followed all the necessary steps for the process:

OEM unlocking and USB debugging are enabled.
I’ve tried unlocking the bootloader, but it still shows as "locked (unlockable)" in the bootloader and won’t allow me to proceed.

I’ve checked multiple guides and forums but haven’t found a definitive solution. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue or how to fix it?

I’d appreciate any advice or guidance.

Nope. Not necessary.

Scroll down and follow the steps until you click the Unlock Bootloader option.

That should leave the bootloader unlocked. Then go and install the stock image and follow those directions.

JollyRancher Thank you!!! I am about to do the exact thing, and could not for the life of me figure out how to unlock the bootloader, however wondered if what you said would work.

Boot into bootloader/fastbootd
adb reboot bootloader
Then
fastboot flashing unlock
Then remove avb_custom_key
Then start with
flash.android.com

It seemed to be a driver issue. Even though the bootloader showed "locked (unlockable)," I was able to unlock it again through the GrapheneOS web installer. Then, using Google's web tool, I managed to flash the official ROM.
