Notifications not appearing till I wake phone

I'm having this issue where alerts whether they be email, push notifications or app notifications are no longer appearing unless i wake my phone from sleep (this is bad). Battery saver isn't on and i have unrestricted set under relevant app battery usage that I want to come through not matter if phone is awake or not. Does anyone know what setting will fix this issue? Appreciate any help!

Are you using Google Play Services for push notifications, and if not, do the apps you are using have their own implementation for push notifications?

i have similair issue but i am fairly certain it's something i changed and not graphene although i just made a post about it minutes ago..

It's too easy to break notifications through removing access to contacts by apps on graphene. The "all or nothing" is no joke
