Open Source MMS Transfer App?

Hi,
I'm looking for an open source solution for transferring my SMS and MMS from a GOS Pixel 7A to a GOS Pixel 8, and I'm having issues with the MMS images showing up.
I'm using the default Messaging app on both devices. Seedvault will transfer the text messages, but no MMS attachments. I've tried SMS Import/Export (https://github.com/tmo1/sms-ie) and after the three hours it took to import it didn't work either--for example, there would be blank placeholders for the images in the app; also, saving the images from the app also resulted in blank image files.
Can anyone recommend an open source app that they've successfully used to transfer SMS and MMS from one GOS device to another?
Alternatively, can anyone recommend an open source Messaging (SMS and MMS) replacement app along with an open source export/import app that they've successfully used?

Your question is fine here. I would imagine the reason you haven't received a response so far is probably because those who have seen your message don't have a solution, so haven't replied. On a personal note, I haven't used MMS in more than 10 years, and I imagine it's the same for most users here who are based outside the US, so that means you likely have a reduced pool of people who can help with your query.

treequell how did you get people to stop texting you media? I keep trying and failing!
Side question. If I restored SMS MMS in 2nd profile with play, would owner without play be able to get it or is that only knew received msgs?
