Advice on how to set up singleton messaging app

I currently have my phone setup with an owner profile with very little and then a personal profile with all my logged in apps .

My question is around the best configuration for WhatsApp, which I understand can only have 1 instance logged in.

I want to be able to get messages regardless of profile that is currently running.
My question is, does WhatsApp have to be owner profile and forward to the other profile or can it run in the user profile and notify me even if I end the session?

No. User profile has to run. No apps can run while the profile is in BFU (encrypted) state. You can still have the profile open and have notifications be forwarded from user to Owner profile though.

If you mean, to receive notifications all the time no matter what profile you're on (Edit: I've just read original post again, so yes you do mean that), then yes. Only the Owner profile is "always on". As stated before, you can still have user profiles running in background, but if you don't want them to be doing that, the Owner would have to be used instead.
