URL Radio app unmaintained - switch to upstream Transistor? (internet radio)

I noticed that the URL Radio app was recently marked as "Archived" by the maintainer on Github:

I learned about the app from the forums here, and have been enjoying it.

Could anyone shed light on the differences between URL Radio and its parent project, Transistor?

Considering switching to Transistor, especially now that they seem to no longer bundle google dependencies as of October's v4.2.1 release.

Any context / experiences / reviews much appreciated, thanks all.
