Help! Can'T find call history.

Dear community,

i am a new Graphene OS user. Today I wanted to check my call history and I can't find the history for a specific contact. Is there a menu or is there a trick to see it? I also work with my phone and this is a feature I really need for my work, as I need to see, when I called somebody or how long we spoke, etc.

Agreed that the default Phone app could use a search feature in the call logs.
Either that, or a way to see all the calls for a given contact in the default Contacts app.
These are likely features that would need to be added upstream in AOSP.

A workaround off the top of my head:
Install the "SMS Import / Export" app https://github.com/tmo1/sms-ie
Export call logs as a .json file
Open the .json in your favorite text editor app with search functionality
Search for the contact's name and read the # of elapsed seconds from the "Duration" field.
Admittedly a very clunky way to achieve this.

Maybe you could find a better setup for call history lookup by using an alternate Dialer or Contacts app that has the right featureset? Idk, might take some testing.

zzz Thanks a lot for your answer. I already tried Ture Dialer and another one I can't remember the name right now. Both couldn't show the history. I will try other ones for sure.
And yes, I managed to see the call history with a text editor on my PC.

But man, I'm really disappointed and sad right now. I was so hyped with Graphene OS and have used it for two monts. But this is a feature I can accept to not have it on a private case, but for my work it is necessary.
I hope, that there might be just a simple setting I needed to activate or else.

I think I have to give up on my privacy journey and use the stock android or use an iphone ...

Try the app "Fossify Phone" from the f-droid store. There you can search in the call history for a specific contact.

PetroK I'm glad I could help. Don't give up so fast on GOS. It's like life man: there are obstacles but there are also solutions. iPhone/iOS is like Instagram: shiny outside but rotten behind the scenes. I use my GOS also for work and had a couple of problems which is of course bad as you need it to earn money. But so far everything went good.

ZoraIsHere I totally understand you. For me, it's a dance between privacy and usability. I will definitely replace my Windows pc this christmas. I will install Linux Mint and will use it on my desktop pc. Next year, I think i'm going to buy my first ever mac. A macbook air M4. The hardware it's just great, and I'm curious to test mac OS for myself. I know, that from a privacy standpoint, it's not the best. Nevertheless, with the right settings and a cautious use of apps, you can get a pretty good level of privacy, compared to a stock windows pc.
