Can't go back to Stock on 6A

I am not able to go back to the the stock image for 6A (15.0.0 (AP4A.241205.013, Dec 2024)) from the current stable GrapheneOS build (2024120400). All the intermediate steps work (unlock bootloader, erase custom avb keys, flash-all.sh for stock), but the final result is an error on the fastboot screen - "boot error" or "BL1 requested". I am able to flash GrapheneOS again in this state, and GrapheneOS boots and works fine, but the stock OS doesn't. I ruled out all the common issues and tried this on a couple of different computers, OSes, cables, web v/s cli, etc., but the result is the same. Any ideas ?

bubblethink I recall having a similar experience not long ago. It was solved by first flashing a "newer", beta, version of stock PixelOS using Google's web installer and, after having done that, flash the stable version of stock. I'm not entirely sure why that worked, but it seems to have worked for someone else recently (although they received a different error message than you did).

Is this a form of anti-rollback prevention ? Looking at the release notes, GrapheneOS seems ahead (Android 15 QPR1) of the stock OS currently.

@fid02 That worked! Thanks. Just flashed QPR2 Beta. So it looks like there is some backwards incompatibility between current builds of GrapheneOS and Stock.

bubblethink It might make sense to file an issue on the GrapheneOS issue tracker, especially if you have build numbers handy to report.
