Does/Has anyone reset Seedvault on GrapheneOS?

I formatted the USB drive I was using for backups, but it still won’t let me create a new backup. What might I be missing, and what steps should I try to resolve this?

groove_untie145 I formatted the USB drive I was using for backups, but it still won’t let me create a new backup.

Can you describe how "won't let me create a new backup" plays out? What actions do you take and what happens?

According to my notes, what has worked best is to format the device using MBR partitioning instead of GUID, and exFAT for the file system, and to do the formatting somewhere other than the phone. But that's because I want to pull files off of the USB drive instead of accessing it just from the phone.

Hey, Thanks for replying on this.

Sorry if I am missing something obvious or being stupid.

Here’s what I’ve done so far

    1. I formatted the USB drive twice to exFAT using the default settings.

    2. Then, I plugged the USB into my phone, and it was recognized just fine (as you can see in the second screenshot).

    3. After that, I went to the Seedvault Backup settings to change the backup location, but the option is greyed out and I can’t select it. (I have enabled backup apps as well.)

I also tried creating a new backup, but it just won’t let me.

Am I missing something here? Any idea why it’s not letting me create a new backup even though the USB seems to be recognized?

People have found that seedvault backups are most reliable if you make them to the internal device storage. Once complete you can move them elsewhere.
To reset seedvault search in Settings for seedvault then goto storage and clear storage.

      a month later

      Seedvault

Message Reads " your phone needs to be plugged for backup to work

I have clear the app data and storage of the seed vault app but it still won't let me do a backup. There is a portion on the settings that says the phone must be charging to do a backup and it won't let me turn it off.

How do I charge the device at the same time if only one port is available on these android devices ?

I did not have this problem several months ago so I do not know if this was an update that is causing this problem.

      Please help

bluemoom once you're in "backup", go to "backup scheduling" and turn off "backup only when charging". That should do the trick.
