Google Play based Matter Service

Hello All,
Curious if anyone has gotten matter device on-boarding to work with grapheneos. I am using home assistant and the home assistant companion app on Graphene without issue, except I recently tried to on-board a new matter device to my home-assistant and it seems it does not play nice.

Home assistant leverages a google-play based matter device on-boarding. When going through the process, I can successfully scan the QR code, but then when i go to the next step, it says "No Wi-Fi Connection" even though the device is completely connected to WiFi.

Is this a known issue with the google play compatibility layer in graphene, or is there anyone who has gotten this to work?

I'm also in the same boat. I'm running the latest Home Assistant and matter-server. When I go to add a matter (over wifi) device, I get a message from the HA companion app saying "Matter is currently unavailable". Adding devices on the same network using the HA companion app on the iPhone works flawlessly. Not sure what the issue is. Maybe Play Services needs some permissions. I already gave it Network and Nearby Devices.

Basically, a reply from thestinger on Jan 13 2024 :

The functionality doesn't work because it's implemented as requiring a privileged permission, not because of anything that was missed. We don't plan to make a special case for this feature. It could be left open for someone to eventually address by somehow asking the user for Wi-Fi credentials, but we aren't going to be working on it with our own resources. You would need to provide devices to test and find a developer to work on it and maintain it, who would likely need to be paid.
