BobXO when I use the private space with proton vpn activated (on the main profile) the applications do not have access to the internet. I discovered that if I turned off the VPN on my main profile, the apps in the private space had access to the internet. But I also discovered that I can keep my VPN activated on my main profile but change the private DNS to "automatic" to resolve the problems in the private space (normally I use the private DNS from mullvad). Do you know how to make applications have access to the internet in the private area without deactivating my VPN in my main profile and without changing my DNS settings?
alfred BobXO Are you using a VPN in the Private Space? Using the same Wireguard config in both the Owner and Private Space can lead to problems. You typically need a separate config for each user (Owner Profile, Private Space, Other User)
yellow-leaves BobXO normally I use the private DNS from mullvad Perhaps mullvad redirect requests to an internal IP when there detecting that your connecting from within there network and thus when requests are sent to this IP from outside this network they wont arrive. If your willing I'd suggest that you try suing a dns-over-tls server from another provider to see if the issue still persists. Or maybe you can just set a specific mullvad server, like this one(might be dns-over-https only): se-mma-dns-001.mullvad.net
missing-root I can say that VPN, i2p proxy, firefox, vanadium, app installs, split tunnelling, all work in private space
BobXO yellow-leaves I tried your address and the problem persists. even trying with quad9 or nextdns it doesn't work
wonder75 Install your VPN app in the private space as well. You will have two VPNs in Settings/VPN afterwards which can be configured independantly.
Carlos-Anso Our advice is not to set private DNS if you are using a VPN https://grapheneos.org/faq#vpn-support Can get confusing/unexpected results using VPNs and private DNS. It also makes you stand out. Without privateDNS most VPNs provide their own DNS to traffic flowing through them so using that makes you blend in with other users of that VPN better.
