Hardened Malloc Error Using Linphone

When using linphone for voip sip, I am getting occasional haedened malloc errors, 1 of every 10-20 calls, especially longer calls

Does anyone know of any better apps that won't generate this error?

I have heard Acrobits works very well, but it's closed source, which requires me to put more trust in the developer that they aren't sharing my data or log my Ips going out to ensure that. I would be willing to pay foe it but have concerns about the closed source.

I am not sure if i can disable hardened malloc but am unwilling to do this because of concerns.

nasta Hardened_malloc is detecting one or more memory corruption bugs. People use apps in different ways and with different configurations which might or might not trigger such issues. Hardened_malloc is working as intended so there's nothing to troubleshoot. You can try to change various settings etc. in Linphone to see if there are specific conditions that trigger a crash from hardened_malloc.

This line is a little bit confusing. On one hand you seem to be asking if its possible to disable hardened malloc, but on the other hand, you're saying you aren't willing to disable it.

So.... yes you can disable it. App info --> Hardened memory allocator (disable).

Now the next question is... what are your concerns about disabling it? Yes the hardened memory allocator improves security, but in this particular case, what are you hardening it against? Do you have any reason to believe that this particular open sourced program is actively trying to take advantage of the memory allocator for nefarious purposes?

fid02 I don't know whether crafted packets sent to the App are triggering the crash or buggy code.

I dont want to disable hadened malloc. I want to not be hacked as frequently.

I get hacked a lot in everything I use.

Is there any VOIP app that is less bug filled?

It is an SIP phone app, which should also work with the linphone service
