Any recommendation for simple voice memo app?

In sessions with clients I I would like to dictate important statements into my smartphone as voice memos.

Which app can you recommend?

Fossify Voice Recorder (GitHub, F-Droid)

Don't forget to play around with the Audio source setting for best results. Strangely, the (non-default) ogg (Opus) format speeds up the recording, so don't use that.

You can, by pressing + and manually entering Recordings, but this introduces a new bug: https://github.com/FossifyOrg/Voice-Recorder/issues/40 (you cannot remove files from Internal/Recordings for some reason).

SovereignCopper If I start changing the location to Internal/Recordings I got an error: Wrong path.
That is a bit different to the issue not being able to delete a file.

Stephan-P Maybe. However, I can't find how to solve that. If it is not possible I can live with the preset location. I want to change that because my music library is very big and so I would have to scroll down to often to get to "Recordings"...

@Stephan-P No, it's a known bug.

While I got recording into Internal/Recording working via the [+] button, it doesn't really matter as long as you can't remove recordings from within the app anyway imho. You might be better off using Record You:

Allows trimming the recordings afterwards
Allows manually setting the sample rate and bitrate (so e.g. Opus 12000Hz/8000bps is possible)
Allows customizing the file naming pattern
Also for screen recording
(!) Considered feature-complete by the developer, no further updates

Recording Studio Lite and AudioRecorder didn't prove to have any advantages over Fossify or Record You, although AudioRecorder is being rewritten completely.

SovereignCopper Both RecordYou and AudioRecorder can't save to mp3, so I guess I'll have to stick with Fossify Voice Recorder...

Dan-cer MP3 is not exactly fit for voice recordings unless you don't mind the file size. So, unless the devices you want to use the recordings on don't support anything other than MP3, consider using Opus, or AAC at low bitrates. A reasonable suggestion for bitrates (but you can go much lower with a lower sampling rate, too):

MP3: 80kbit (mono)
Opus: 32-40kbit (mono)
HE-AAC: 40-48kbit (mono)

SovereignCopper Fine. I'll use ogg with Fossify Voice Recorder then. For some reason there are missing codecs when using RecordYou and then starting play the recorded m4a or ogg file. They are not playable.
Using Fossify V. ogg files are playable with my music player (MediaMonkey).
