How to make (Chrome)Cast work in GOS Pixel 8a

Hi everyone,

I bought a Smart TV for the first time, it comes with Android 11 ATV and Chromecast built-in.

Now I don't know anything anything about Smart TVs, I thought it would be simple to setup and work fine in GOS, considering that in my Pixel 8a GOS I can see a "Cast" widget in the drop down menu.

I've managed to connect the TV to the Wi-Fi and Ethernet too on my router, phone is Wi-Fi connected and working properly.
I did NOT create \ login to a Google account on the Android TV (do I have to?)

I granted "Nearby Devices" permissions but still my phone is not finding the TV.

Can someone confirm me that Chromecast is compatible with GOS latest version?
What do I have to do to make it work?

Some guides for non-GOS pixel phones say that you have to install Google Home APP, I can install it from Aurora Store but it seems only to open with a Google Account.

Another question, if Chromecast does not work. Has anyone tested USB-C to HDMI cables that are CONFIRMED to work on Pixel 8a. They should work on GOS, right?

Never had a TV or chromecast to cast to. Apparently the vlc app can cast video to chromecasts and I presume compatible TVs.

Any usb-HDMI option that works with stock Pixels should work fine on any Pixel 8 or newer phone with GrapheneOS. I have a Anker usb c hub with HDMI output that works well.

please be aware that apps may reject to function when the phone is connected to a "bigger" screen.
(encountered wtih streaming app sky go, will not playback once the phone is connected via USB C hub to a monitor..)

Thanks for the reply. I've heard that VLC works but I was mostly looking for screen mirroring for using Newpipe.

Can someone with Chromecast experience share their knowledge?

Since Google Cast relies on Play Services, have you installed Google Play Services in the owner profile and granted it network permissions?

I managed to cast from my PC to the TV.

But still no luck from GOS to TV.

Anyone with experience with Chromecast?
