GrapheneOS This is recently the case with the Sumishin SBI banking app.
It stopped working, so I installed it in a new profile, and it still didn't work.
Then I tried removing google play from that profile, and it started working!
I suppose I would need to re-install google play every so often to update the app.
Revanced and other "patchers" can also remove such checks- though I wouldn't really want to mess with a banking app in that way.
