Hi all. Not sure if this is a GrapheneOS question or an Android question, but I figured I'd check here first.
Background: I recently discovered and enabled the "Show hidden files" option in the Files app. Shortly thereafter, I found a hidden .aux
folder in all of my photo folders. Even though I've long since deleted all of the non-hidden photos, these .aux
folders retain copies of a seemingly random subset of the photos. Some of the copies are as old as 18 months.
Is this intentional, or is there potentially something more nefarious going on?
If it is intentional... why? What is the purpose of keeping copies of these images? I've searched throughout the forum and the internet, but I haven't been able to find mention of a .aux
folder, much less a reason for its existence.
Any help is much appreciated!
