Rotating Photos / Saving Photo Edits / Access Camera while locked - Pixel 5a

I have GrapheneOS installed on a Pixel 5a phone. I have a few annoyances with viewing and editing photos, and I'm wondering if there's a fix....
1) When I go to view the pictures I've taken, the "landscape" oriented photos never rotate to be right side up when holding the phone in portrait orientation. I have to manually edit the photo to rotate it, which brings me to...
2) When I edit a photo, my only option is to "Save a copy", so I end up with two copies of the photo, and I have to go back and manually delete the original.
3) I've selected the option to allow camera access when the phone is locked ("Screen lock camera access"), yet when I use the shortcut (double press of power button) it just prompts me to unlock the phone, and then doesn't even bring up the camera (the shortcut does work if the phone is already unlocked).

On my old (Android) phone, it would flip the photo for me, and give me the option to either "Save" my edits, or "Save a copy".
I've tried using the Camera and Gallery that come with GrapheneOS, and using Google Camera and Google Photos, and I have the same issue either way.
Is there anything I can do about these things?

aLlama for the orientation issue have you tried using the save image as previewed option in the GOS Camera settings?

It could also be related to having EXIF stripped. Try previewing using an app like SimpleMobileTools Simple Gallery.

As for picture editing using the stock Gallery is as it is because it is a stock AOSP app. Suggest swapping it out for the aforementioned alternative or another of your choice, I've seen others using Aves etc.

When it comes to double tapping power for camera is this an issue when locked at all times or BFU (Before First Unlock)?

aLlama 1) it's not a bug. Active sensor permission for camera.

MetropleX I tried your suggestion of using "save image as previewed", and found that I no longer had the issue, then switched it back and also didn't have the issue... I guess it was just on Google Camera 🤦. I could have sworn it was on both.
Thanks for the suggestions for editing! I'll check out those other apps.
The double tapping power issue was an issue at all times, but after uninstalling Google Camera the issue is resolved 😁.

MetropleX EXIF stripping shouldn't be removing orientation. If it is, that's a bug.

To follow up Incase someone else is looking for an answer, the fact that I could only "Save a Copy" of an edited photo in Google Photos was because I had backup and sync turned off.
