How well does GrapheneOS deal with transferring old phone data to new phone?

I am fortunate enough of a person to be able to buy a new phone every year or every two years, and I'm wondering how well GOS deals with transferring over data from an old pixel to a new one. Currently I am an iphone user and transferring data from an old one to a new one is super smooth. I'm just wondering if that's the same case for GOS pixel phones.

Does the data really transfer all of your settings (like apps sandboxed, profiles created, privacy setting set for each app) and all that stuff?

pixel123124123 I think a forum search for "SeedVault" will turn up opinions. Personally I am not a fan.

It's terrible, don't bother.

The configuration process is very involved, you need to manually write the seed dice phraze multiple times (especially if you have mutiple profiles).
The app installation restore kind of works, but it's very broken:
- all apps are sideloaded on restore, Play Store doesn't know about them, so you'll not be getting any updates until you reinstall them.
- all the shortcuts and widget organization is gone
- all my credentials are gone. Site note: Bitwarden auto-fill doesn't always work, and Yubikey over NFC doesn't always work... it's hours on hours of manual, tedious work.
- the data of Signal, Whatsup, Grayjay, SMS, call logs is not moved, all has to be done manually.
- Settings migration from Pixel 5 to 8 was a mixed bag, but from 8 to 9 worked almost perfectly.
- App settings not only don't get moved, but the permissions are changed! Apps can get network access, camera or voice access, etc. fills random.

DeletedUser43 Thanks for the info. Looks like the upgrade process isn't easy and I'd need to settle with a really high end model for future proofing.

Unfortunately I have the same experience as @DeletedUser43. I've given up on it for the moment, hopefully seedvault will be replaced by the time I need a new phone.

fid02 I know, I was just pointing this out as it makes the whole restore process a lot longer. It's better to just use a cable for so many auths. Either way, currently setting up a new phone for me is a single day out of my life.
