OSMAnd~ stability issues vs. OSMAnd vs. OSMAnd+

Hey there! Simply because I dont want to use the Playstore in my main profile (I avoid it entirely currently) I use OSMAnd~ from F-Droid, through Obtainium.

I have heard that F-Droid has a proplematic build environment that was outdated at least at one point in the recent past.

I had stability issues with OSMAnd~, crashing when zooming or searching etc.

I am wondering if people that use official versions, wether it may be the limited OSMAnd or the complete, paid OSMAnd+, have had better experiences.

I'm using net.osmand.plus (v.4.9.6) downloaded from gplay store, never had any glitches like you mention during during my one year + of usage.

I think i used the f-droid build at some point as well and had no issues with it either

Try disabling Hardened memory allocator just with Osmand (not the global toggle). I dunno if it will fix the crashes but it will run much better.

For good measure try disabling all exploit protection maybe.

Yes I did that and it should not be needed. But it fixed the issues, I think. I think I had an issue afterwards anyways.

I have been using the F-Droid version for a very long time and have not encountered the stability issues you're describing at all, so at least we can say it's not always a problem.
