Fossify phone app - data usage?

As the graphene phone app does not work after the last android update (can't pass through notification for calls from admin to user profile), I decided to install fossify phone app. This did solve the problem. I checked the a plan permissions and made sure it does not require data.and saw there's no network permission. When I look at non carrier data I see that fossify phone app has used 30mb since I installed it like 2 days ago?

I guess yes but then why doesn't it come up as a permission on the phone and on exodus?

What permission? That will be NETWORK and telephone (what you can toggle)

And in the background wifi, cell data etc.

Okey so I might be lacking some fundamental information but can apps use network without actually asking for it in permissions?

GrapheneOS implemented the network toggle, on stock Android and all "verified" variants, all apps always have the possibility to use the internet.

Network is on by default. Do you know that the phone has no network permission?

As voice over IP is a thing, maybe phone apps can use network without needing the permission
