Hi all,
I just installed Graphene OS to gain more privacy from Google (the web installer is amazing btw). I do not mind using Google for some very specifics things (mainly photo album for now and maybe Maps) but want to move from them having so much data regarding other activities. I also would like to avoid as much as possible to switch profile on my devices all the time.
Coming from an Android stock, I was wondering if going with the following approach is an improvement on that front or if it basically ruins my efforts to reduce the amount of data I give in:
- Only 1 profile in the device with Google Services sandboxed without network permission (or any permission). This seems to be enough for most apps including banking apps to work
- I did not sign in the Play Store.
- I use the Google photo app, for now, to back-up picture and share with family. I am obviously signed-in there and it has network permission.
Basically I do not mind the pictures being uploaded to Google for now. I was just wondering if, since Photo and Play Services communicate with each other, Photo (or any other app) could still "phone home" my activities. Especially since I am signed-in on Photo. In other word, does turning network permission on Google Play Services helps to reduce the amount of date we send? Or is it pointless since apps communicating with the Google Services app through mutual consent will still send those info anyway?
I tried to find similar questions but did not find a clear answer (maybe there is not one).
Thank you for your help
