Graphene OS periodically only allows reboot to safe mode

Hi all,

Periodically, when I try to either power off or reboot my Pixel 7a running Graphene, the dialog only gives me the choice to reboot to safe mode. Can anyone tell me why this happens?

Is it related to too long a period of time between reboots or power cycles?
Is it related to updating packages, libraries, etc?

rhimbo that usually happens when you hold the reboot button instead of pressing it.

If I do not hold the reboot button, that is, if I just press it (click it) I get the following behavior:

If screen is unlocked: screen locks
I screen is locked: lock screen is displayed (with clock in my case and button to unlock), same as tapping the locked screen with display off.

The behavior I describe only happens periodically. I cannot reproduce it at will no matter how long I press and hold the power button.

rhimbo I wasn't talking about the power button. What you describe here is the default behavior of pressing the (physical) power button. The reboot button is a software key.

I am not holding down the "Restart" soft key. I simply tap it.

The dialog that displays asking if I want to reboot into safe mode (it's the only option given) happens whether I tap the "Power off" button OR the "Restart" button.

But, as I said in my original post, it does not happen all the time. I don't have good data on when it happens or how to reproduce the problem. My only observation is that it seems to happen after several days or a week of not powering off or restarting the phone.
