E-sim no longer works

I have a 6a with one physical sim and one e-sim. The e-sim worked fine in the beginning but now I can't make nor receive calls. It just goes straight to ended when I try to call and callers get directed to voice mail. Sms works though. I have good signal on both sims but if I disable the physical sim the e-sim signal gets an exclamation mark. The carrier sees nothing wrong on their side.

Any thoughts?

Do you have 'Preferred network type' set to '4G Only'? That setting caused caused issues with calling for me.

I had the same problem with two eSims on a 6a.
I had to toggle on 2g and use 4g only and go to the APN settings and update these, then everything works as normal.
The self populated APN settings from the carrier were not correct, checking their web site and downloading these allowed the eSims to work...
