axino lawman I just hit the same wall. Dflt contacts app doesn't recognize previous google contact labels, but fossify does. I cannot get it to work. Several months later, I hope you found a workable solution?
lawman tbh switching to grapheneos has messed up my contacts. atm gone back to saving on google drive, but after a few trial errors i've now got about 10 duplicates of each contact. tried to merge with google contacts app but doesn't work. :(
axino lawman You can clear "contact storage" in apps enable "show hidden". It may be too late, but for next person.
lawman Installed gos to pixel 7a this time. I added Google device to Google contacts which eventually synced it. This seems to be working ok Pity as I was getting to degoogle but have to rely on it for contacts still
