Cast to Chromeast from Google Pictures App

Hi there, i am new here. Installed GOS on my P9P and i really like it.

Can you please help me out, how i can get cast to Chromecast from the Google Pictures App working?

Cast is working, when i try it over the Home App, then it's mirroring.

Cast is working to my devices from the Spotify App too.

Only (for me important) thing which is not working is cast from the Google Pictures App. I can see my Chromecast devices and click on them, but after that nothing happens.

I tried with different authorizations in the app, which did not help.

It looks like (for me), that a Google service or something is missing or does not start.

Can you help me out please?

andrgr are Play Services installed in the same profile? Which permissions are set for Google photos?

Yes are installed in the same profile.

I tried to give Google Photos all permissions for a test, but it did not help.

I saw that some people say nearby devices should be allowed in Play and Play services - i will try this too.

With my other "normal" phone it works, with GOS via Home App it works, only not for what i need - Google Photos. I also tried to install for a test the normal google App, nothing changed.

It seems that via Google Photos it don't "enable" the cast protocol when i click on Chromecast in Google Photos.

andrgr it's a sign that the app fails to communicate with Play Services for some reason. I only use Google Cast (through Apple Music) so I can't test it out sadly. Try setting up a separate user profile with Play Services and photos only and see if that helps.

Yes it seems so.
What i also can say, on the navigation bar on the top of the screen at the button "cast" i can`t find any devices - no idea why in the Google Pictures App i can see the devices - but it seems there is a service or something missing.

Nearby devices on in Google Play and Services also did not help sadly..

andrgr the toggle in the navigation bar indeed does nothing. Afaik it needs some proprietary system component in AOSP which is obviously missing. It might be that the Photos app is trying to use that Cast implementation instead of having a built-in one, but that would surprise me.

Yes i think there is something missing. No idea, in which system component this feature is included.

I gave all permisseion to Google Play, Play Services and Photo, nothing changed..

And yes, when i tell the toggle cast in the navigation bar to search for devices, nothing happens.

Something is missing, but i have no idea what..

No solution, just here to report a similar issue.

I can't get anything to cast from any app, with Play Services installed and given network + nearby devices installed.

I am at this point unsure if this is a network issue or a GOS issue?
