Totomoto I recommend these settings, go;
Settings > System > System update > Require battery above warning level: ON
and on the same settings page:
'Automatic reboot': OFF
This way, you should get promted before the post install reboot, and sufficient battery for the operations.
You could also in advance have a 80% limited charged device, and during update keep it plugged into a powerful charger. This way the battery gets less exposed to the anticipated heavy load. It wouldn't be hot from neither charging, nor discharging, since it holds at charged and the phone mainly gets power from being plugged in, again, if that charger is powerful.
This is not an advice for every day charging, just for updating setups with a large number of apps and only if planning in advance is practical.
If i've got really heavy lifting upcoming, sometimes I take a cold thing from the fridge and let the phone be near it.
This app has a good custom window for e.g. battery temperature.
