does updating an app change the installation source?

So, I've installed an app through Play Store as that's the only way to have it appear in Android Auto.

Can I now update it through Aurora Store? Or will that change the installation source to Aurora?

(Otherwise I heard you can spoof it with an app called Shizuku but not sure how it works)

If its the same APK with the same app ID and hash, it does change. From what I've noticed, the "installation source" refers to the source for the particular version you currently have installed.
