sk3nn1x haha, so my experience paid off in the end. You never mentioned the screen protector though! At least you know how to work around the problem.
From my experience I can tell you for the next time, that it's better to replace the screen yourself with an OEM part. Since Google offers these through iFixit (which is rarity in the repair space!) you can just buy one and install it yourself. It's not really that difficult on Pixels to replace the screen, a little bit of heat and a razor blade will get you in. One screw to disconnect the bracket holding the cable. Installing the new screen isn't that difficult either, just align the adhesive and firmly press it down.
I wouldn't rely on the "water proof" claims. There is no guarantee whatsoever when you get your screen replaced that the adhesive was installed properly.
