BitWarden Autofill Service not working

I can't pinpoint when it stopped working but it was within the last month or so. I'm on Beta release channel and have been for a couple years.

I noticed recently that I no longer get autofill suggestions from BitWarden. Neither via the popup or inline keyboard. I've gone through my settings and toggled them. Auto-fill service, inline autofill, accessibility settings. They're all enabled for BitWarden. Background battery usage is also set to unrestricted.

I'm not sure it's a GOS specific issue, but I figured I'd check if anyone else in my scenario can repro or have suggestions.

barnacleez which Browser is that happening in or are you talking about other apps?

It doesn't work in Brave as a browser and the Navy Federal Credit Union app. Neither popup or inline keyboard autofill suggestions work for those. I did just test another banking app and the inline keyboard suggestions worked. Those also appear to work in Vandium.

Seems like it might be a BitWarden app specific issue. The Brave browser doesn't support autofill API's so it relies on the draw-over permission. I noticed I don't have the ability to enable that permission for the app right now. I'll investigate further with app versions and changes there.

brave works if you set a flag, sometimes it resets itself so be aware.

"I finally manage to make Bitwarden autofill work in Brave without Gplay services.
I had to set brave://flags #enable-autofill-virtual-view-structure on enable without compatibility check.

Then you'll have a new Autofill Options in the General settings that allows you to switch from Brave Autofill to Android Autofill."

barnacleez ah, just what I suspected. The Brave issue occurs now since Bitwarden deprecated some components with their native app overhaul they did like 2 months ago. Before that, it would force a pop-up for older apps that didn't support current methods. Now that feature is removed. To fix that for Brave, follow these instructions:

Go to: brave://flags
search for "Enable the setting to provide a virtual view structure for Autofill" and enable it with the option "enabled without any compatibility check".
Restart the browser (best would be to force quit).
A new menu should appear in settings below " Downloads" called "Autofill Services"
in that menu, select "other providers"
restart browser again

I'm finding that with my banking app - Navy Federal Credit Union - I can't get any autofill options to work still unfortunately. The Brave browser flag works though.

barnacleez that's on the app developers. If they don't use the Autofill Framework, that's on them. For me personally that signals a low quality app with (most likely) ancient code. It doesn't work anymore because Bitwarden previously used some trickery to force a pop-up, which they removed now.

splattergames Thanks for the additional info. That makes sense. I'm pretty sure this banking app is a fairly new/refreshed version. Maybe it's so new that they haven't built in the autofill framework yet. I'll check into that. Thanks again!
