The color changes when you click on some sites.

Hi. I recently installed GraheneOS right after buying the phone.

Started to observe a lot of UI problems. I already found the post with the first one.

But here is the second problem.
In some applications, sites, if you don't click on the screen, the background color is gray for example, but if you click on it, it becomes blacker. On some sites like Github it's more noticeable. I click on the screen, the background color changes, do nothing, it becomes the reverse of that.

What's that?

This sounds more like a hardware problem than like a software problem... unless maybe some developer options are enabled? If so, try turning them off?

How to check is it hardware problem.. seems weird, because its just colors. I also have this issue (https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/15571-white-flash-on-app-when-swiping-to-recent-meny/2).

If the problem happens with apps on the stock OS, I would suggest returning the device.

Otherwise it's hard to say... this does not sound like a problem other users are having, and it does somewhat sound like a hardware problem.

I get that flashing back to the stock OS would be disruptive. Feel free to seek other opinions!

But in terms of ruling out possible software problems, it's hard to beat replacing all the software at once to see if the problem continues.

Hey! I have this bug too, it occurs for me when I use adaptive colors with Smooth display setting on (120hz)

When screen is inactive it becomes 60hz and color changes (becomes darker) and when again 120hz it becomes somewhat lighter.

Is it known bug or should we report it? Seems like known, cuz person on GOS Discord suggested me to change color to natural and it fixes issue, so i dont think its hardware fault.

Bug with white flashes is still issue for me tho (https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/15571-white-flash-on-app-when-swiping-to-recent-meny/6), you seems to have it too

There are a few known upstream bugs that are fixed when changing the color settings, so I guess this is yet another one.

It turns out that the problem does not disappear completely, but it apparently occurs less often and is slightly less noticeable.
I have a Pixel 8, this is one of several bugs that I have. As if they are combined, because the person who reported it also has a bug that I have already reported.

I will try to describe the problem again:

I have the smooth display setting enabled, as far as I understand, when switching to a purity of 60 Hz refresh rate, the background in applications (for example, discord, GitHub and others, where the background is relatively dark, as I understand it) the screen becomes darker, that is, the background in the application becomes darker. As soon as the refresh rate again becomes 120 Hz, the screen returns to its original state.

I was not able to capture the problem on the screen recorder, because nothing changes there. The problem does not disappear when setting other colors (natural, etc.). The problem does not occur in all applications, apparently somehow related to the background colors. Sometimes the problem does not occur in principle, as I said above. That is, sometimes I see it in the Discord, and sometimes I don't.

I opened the GitHub app and watched the background but didn't see what you're reporting. Do you only notice the color change in low-light environments? How do you know the refresh rate is changing? Do you have developer options on or off? If they're on, what happens if they're off? Any change?

Developer options are turned off. I made an assumption, because it happens after specific interval, then tried to turn on developer options to toggle showing refresh rate to see if it is true. Seems to be true.

This occurs specifically due to the refresh rate switching. Its either a firmware or Android bug. Google could fix it with an update. No need to return your device. Although i'll say that you guys have really good eyes to notice this. It didn't bother me too much.
