Isolating Android Auto (private space, work profile, or separate user profile)

I'd like to isolate Android Auto as much as reasonably possible, along with just a couple other apps that require Google services.

I understand that a wired Android Auto connection requires far fewer permissions than a wireless connection, so I first tried setting up the Private Space, installed Android Auto and it's necessary dependencies in the private space, and only enabled permissions for wired Android Auto. When I connect my phone by USB to my car, the initial connection is made and then Android Auto on my phone crashes.

Next I enabled permissions for wireless Android Auto. I haven't texted this extensively, but this morning I was able to establish and maintain a connection to my car without Android Auto crashing.

Is there a way to get wired, USB connections to Android Auto working in private spaces, or one of the other isolation schemes?
If not, is it preferable to use a wireless connection in an isolated space, or to run a wired connection in the main, owner profile?

Kalmar hello one alternative might be to flip your setup. Leave Android auto in main profile along with other Google playstore apps and put all your non Google privacy friendly stuff in the private space. You can disable apps you don't need running in main profile and just leave the private space unlocked so you can get notifications out if needed. I did this recently and am happy with the setup.

Exactly the same setup and same exact crash with the wired AA. I do not use Wireless AA in my car. I wonder if this is USB connectivity issue? As known Wired AA works fine in the Work profile.

For better isolation, plus avoid any potential bug with (still new) Private Space, I would suggest a dedicated profile.

All I can say that GOS team is absolute best at tackling bugs and they fixed the issue. Once updated was done, the issue went away. AA in the Private Spaces works and stays on.
Respect to GOS team! Will donate.

I'm in a similar spot. My issue is that I am unable to go to Settings > Apps > Sanboxed Google Play > Android Auto if it is installed in private space only. This means I can't grant it permissions at all and so it will not work. Any advice?

withoutclass I have this same issue. Do you also have a Work Profile? I use Shelter to create a Work Profile, which I used solely for Android Auto, but wanted to test Google Play in Private Space but there is no settings panel for it.

I can get panels if I install it in the Owner or Work profile, but not Private Space, and wasn't sure if people without Work profiles get the same issue.
