The breaking of SMS functionality finally snapped me and I jumped back to stock OS.

So I guess it marks the end of me using this OS for about a year. The idea of a hyper secure OS is super cool, NGL. But for me, SMS is one of the things that is essential for my mobiling and so is a deal breaker. Although probably I will reflash GOS back to this device one I get another phone (probably a pixel 9?) as my daily driver with all my essential stuff on it, so that I can still play around with it lol.

Hopefully your mission liberating android with the help of EU regulations will actually affect everyone world wide and I can actually own my f***ing phone fr. Until then I guess I'll follow you guys on X and YouTube.

someone27281 the fact that you haven't found a solution to your issue doesn't mean there isn't one. Perhaps your inability and lack of flexibility to find suitable alternatives to function succesfully using most secure mobile OS to date is the reason why you leave this unique platform. I would in no way recommend people to return to stock when they encounter certain problems but rather explore other possibilities and alternatives that help me achieve my ultimate goal which is to operate in secure AND private environment which stock device doesn't provide.

someone27281 Which apps are broken on GOS? Can you give some examples? It would help troubleshoot, as others don't seem to be having this issue with the apps they're using.

At some point if you are not in a position to provide a detailed description of the problem then the extent to which it is the possible for the GrapheneOS community to look into the issue wanes.

It seems plausible that a large fraction of GrapheneOS users live outside of India and have limited familiarity with UPI apps. I think people have been asking for specific apps to be named so they might examine the behavior of specific apps. Obviously you are under zero obligation to list specific apps that you are using, but likewise nobody else who might be willing to look into the issue is obliged to guess!

de0u I don't think the community can look into it more, as UPI is only available in india and is directly regulated by Indian govt. Specific app? GPay has support for it, I guess you can check the official app called BHIM too. It's a dedicated UPI app.

But India is a pretty large country, to both size and population. Certainly GrapheneOS cannot be that unpopular or unknown there that there are no other users from India in here at all?

I hope someone else from India shows up and confirms the issue with UPI payment apps, and can help debugging. Or maybe it is working for everyone else in India?

Bro 90% of people here don't even know what android is. They just buy the phone, use play store to get what they want. Hell my dad needed me to set him up a Google account. Yesterday he couldn't download a YouTube video. Yeah I'm assume nobody here knows what GOS is.
