Hello everyone,

I've been having some issues with a Pixel Fold I recently got. Whenever I switch to the internal screen, it would randomly stop registering scroll inertia (indicated by the red trail at the end when touching the screen with Pointer location in Developer options switched on).

This usually only happens at the start, when initially opening the internal screen from sleep. For an indefinite amount of time the scroll inertia would be dead. After some fiddling, it would come back and work as it should.

I tried playing with all screen-related settings that I could think of. Smooth display, touch sensitivity, rotating the screen, opening and closing several times, switching from internal to external screen, etc. I tried going back to Google's stable public build, but I was not able to replicate with what little I've tried. I've yet to find a permanent fix.

Here's an example of how it should be: https://files.catbox.moe/vhw8mw.mp4
Please note the red trail at the end of the input, that's what determines the scroll inertia. In this video, it works fine.

Here's an example of it not working: https://files.catbox.moe/hhyqel.mp4
Note the lack of the red trail at the end, meaning the touch input acts like the scroll inertia is not calculated. It does not "scroll" like you would expect when swiping your finger around.

If anyone has a fix or some kind of consistent workaround for this, please kindly share with us. This issue makes the Pixel Fold's internal screen essentially unusable for me.

Getting a new Pixel Fold solved this problem. The "bad" Pixel Fold was manufactured around Sept 2023, while the new unit I got was made around Apr 2023. This information was taken from Settings > About phone > Battery information. The recent 10-31 update did not help the bad unit. Probably won't be too much of a help for anyone with the same problem, but that's that.
