Ri Music issue

Hi, does anyone here use Ri Music app? Its been working fine for me for the past several months however 2/3 days ago anything that I selected to play was showing me "Unknown Error". Accrescent was not showing any updates due so I reinstalled the app, it turned out it needed some update as now the app has slightly changed UI etc but it still doesn't play anything. Now instead of saying "unknown error" it tells me "login required" but nowhere within the app I can see anything to sign up or log in. On their website there isn't anything anywhere to sign up either. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Mwk YouTube Music now apparently requires you to sign in in order to stream. The very latest version of Rimusic (can be acquired from Accrescent) has the following release notes:

What's New
Implemented YouTube Music Login in miscellaneous settings.
It work like piped and discord login, it's mandatory to listen songs, navigation not require it.
First time start app, go to miscellaneus settings and connect to YTM, restart app, try to play a song.
If not play, disconnect and login again, restart app, btw may not work? Create ticket with issue.

Hmm, I haven't seen a login prompt but I have noticed I haven't been able to play a lot of songs lately. Seems pretty hit or miss and I just have been hoping for an update to come soon and fix it.

perhaps another reinstall will help, from GOS perspective does logging in to Google via rimusic poses any risk to privacy? will they gain access to any information through the backdoor?

Mwk no, but they will be perfectly able to track your activity within the app which is what they're after. Also they will be able to access files in shared storage (no permission needed for that), unless you use storage scopes. There is more that happens if you use Play Services.

Google is really cracking down on alternative frontends for Youtube and YT Music. Using YT privacy friendly is getting more difficult by the day!

Are you able to provide the relevant code snippets from Rimusic in order to back up your claim that the app is allowing Google access to "shared storage" and that it's using Play services to do… something?

hopefully things like brave browser will remain step ahead with blocking ads and ability to play YouTube without ads, out of curiosity - does anyone know about other apps similar to Ri Music which works just as good?
