Differences between "work profile" and "private space"?

Basicly the topic. Are both the same implementation just with another name or are there other implications security- and privacywise?

At the moment I do the following:

User profile with VPN for Open Source Apps
Work profile with VPN for not trustworthy apps
Private Space without VPN for apps that don't work with VPN

Are there any implications I should be aware of?

There are local management apps for a work profile which were essentially a poor man's Private Space before the feature existed. Private Space has better privacy/security and features. It has far more features in the UI and full support for a standalone lock method / encryption.

Work profile management apps can enable a lot of communication between the Owner user and the nested work profile.

Installed packages are shared across all kinds of profiles.
