Long time GOS user here. Have struggled to use seedvault backups (I know it has known issues, so not complaining here), maybe taking a backup every month or so when i remember. I don't do it more regularly because it always fails at least once, sometimes a few times, needing a reboot of phone between attempts. Eventually I get there and feel relaxed again for a while. But recently broke my phone and had to get a newer Pixel. My restore pulled some stuff, but many apps were missing backups (I am learning that some/many don't allow their data to be backed up).
So, I was wondering, does anyone have a good process in place that I can replicate? I remember a few years back someone telling me they had a USBC hub, with spare port, in which was their USB backup stick, and whenever they put their phone onto it to charge it, it took a backup. Not sure how true that is as I've never seen a backup run through first go without reboot required.
Currently my only thoughts on the best approach are to make a reminder to run the backup every week, AND write a list of apps to check for built in backups, and use those (Signal for example). Trouble is, I assume you can't use the same seedvault USB backup stick for those, so I'd probably need another stick for the app backups.
Can anyone advise or maybe suggest a more efficient approach to ensuring my data is backed up, as often and painlessly as possible?!
Thanks
