Scout_Em Hi , hoping I could get some help here . I have GOS installed on my phone (pixel 8 pro) for about a week. Working fine until it randomly shut off at 90% battery life. It will no longer turn on or charge. Pc also does not recognize any device when connected, could this be hardware or a software issue ? Willing to offer more details if needed
DeletedUser87 Scout_Em this is most likely a hardware problem. You can try power cycling the phone and see if it comes back to life. Hold down the power, volume down and volume up buttons together for around 20 seconds. If it was hard stuck, that should power it up (for better results, connect to charger while doing that).
Scout_Em DeletedUser87 Just tried it , still nothing . Also , I did drop it earlier , but it was not a hard drop , it seems something might have got disconnected. But I first wanted to rule out an software issues.
Scout_Em DeletedUser87 Nope no vibration or sounds. However when I connect to the pc and hold the power button , I do get the windows "device connected" sound. But nothing show in device manager. Weird. Are pixels known to be this fragile ? Ive dropped iphone 100s of times they keep pushing through.
DeletedUser87 Scout_Em it really depends, one bad drop might be enough. I've seen equally weird damage from all phone vendors at the repair shop I used to work at. In terms of your problem, I can't really say from a distance what the issue may be. You could try to get it fixed by a local repair shop... or send it in for warranty if that's still there.
Scout_Em DeletedUser87 I can return to the carrier as its still within the 30 days return window, im worried that GOS install may nullify a replacement though. Would that be an issue you think ?
lost_cause I think you will get a new phone well before anyone knows GrapheneOS is on it. If it wasn't a new phone and under warranty, I would say open it up and check that the battery ribbon cable is still solidly connected.
Scout_Em lost_cause I dont want to cause further damage . I think returning here is the best option and I suppose yea they would take a while to fix it . Not sure if they will reach out after thats done if they do fix it in the first place. Sigh...
