Will Google's New Anti-theft Features Make it to GOS?

Some new anti-theft features have been announced recently. If you want to know the details, I will link you to the Google Security Blog and some other resources below.

I am referring to Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock and Remote Lock.

While I know that GrapheneOS is not much focused on anti-theft, the newly announced features sounded to me not just like PixelOS features, but some that will benefit all Android. So will they be included?

ttmp12 From what I heard, they all depend on Google Play Services, so won't be included in GrapheneOS. But GrapheneOS developers seem to have expressed some interest in detecting phone being snatched and locking it, so it is not unreasonable a similar functionality will be implemented in GrapheneOS in the far future.

This will be part of sandboxed Google Play. I don't imagine it'll be able to work without privileges, but it's not 100% certain. Maybe it does. There is an open issue on our tracker to implement something similar. It's something that we might look into in the future.

I am using Private Lock. And FindMyDevice. Both installed from Fdroid.

DeletedUser5 Thanks for mentioning Private Lock. The function is useful. But it hasn't been updated for the last 5 years, so it more looks like abandonware ...

Works reliably. Just go to the settings, check it starts with boot, and adjust the sensitiviy to your liking.

As for APIs, I don't know anything about that stuff, sorry.
