Problem with stock alarm no sound

I am on P8P running latest GOS. I've changed my default alarm to a custom song on all profiles, and have confirmed alarm works w/this sound.

I listen to videos play sometimes when going to sleep on a secondary profile, and have auto reboot set to trigger overnight (and it does). However, when alarm goes off in the morning from owner profile (after auto reboot) it shows the GUI screen for alarm indicating it's going off, 'turn off, snooze', but it plays no sound. I can confirm alarm volume is up in settings on owner profile. Curious if this is an issue with anyone else? Can anyone reccomend a fix? Thanks.

Made same observation (at Pixel 8 (no pro)). Sure to have missed some alarms + observed with clear mind when I began to become suspicious. Not sure under which conditions it exactly fails (maybe after letting auto-reboot end secondary user session, even if alarm is correctly setup in both secondary and owner profile ??); couldn't pinpoint enough, yet.

Personal "workaround": Most often I actively end secondary user session before bed - this seemed to mitigate the problem. (Not properly investigated, whether this is really technically solid or mere wishful thinking, though.)

Nonetheless and IIRC your error description seems consistent with my cases. (Had changed alarm tone as well from default tone to one of the other built-in ones.) Thanks for bringing it up!

Sounds like the file is in a location that is still encrypted in BFU state.

Perhaps you can move the file to a location that is specific to the Clock app, probably something like /Android/media/com.android.deskclock... but I'm not sure exactly what that path would be.

Some further research tells me that the file would have to be in the device-encrypted storage, which is supposedly in data/user_de... However, I'm not sure if you can just move a file there. It's intended for apps to do this with an API call.

I agree that's probably what's happening. I suspect experimentation will reveal that the built-in sounds will work after a reboot but custom ones won't. Reading the source code for the app might uncover a workaround.

it does in fact play the default sound. But, only sometimes, other times no sound (which is why I didn't include that info in my initial post...couldn't recreate it after it happened).

I think (though I haven't checked recently) that it will also play any of the built-in sounds.

I am not aware of a reason why that should be happening.

It could very well be the (built in is correct) alarm sound does play but doesn't wake me up, sound times out but off/snooze notification persists. Not sure if that's how the alarm works...just a random guess. Thanks for the insight I'll just rely on built in sounds and hope this limited functionality improvement finds its way into a future fix. Aprreciate these replies.
