In Settings > Apps > Special app access > Wi-Fi control, I have several apps listed as "Allowed", including Google Play Services and Play Store, and GSF.
If I click on a specific app, there is a description that reads:
Allow this app to turn Wi-Fi on or off, scan and connect to Wi-Fi networks, add or remove networks, or start a local-only hotspot.
All of the apps listed have the Network permission, but this Wi-Fi control seems to go above and beyond what I would expect from granting that. I'm certain that I was never asked to grant this permission.
Can anyone explain why an app would need this permission, and why these apps have it granted automatically?
If these apps can scan for wifi networks, doesn't that basically allow them to track your location?
