Pixel 7a Asking for PIN "For Added Security"

Hi everyone,

I'm encountering a strange issue with my second Pixel 7a running GrapheneOS. After rebooting the device or switching profiles, I'm prompted to enter my PIN "for added security." This prompt seems unusual because, unlike the usual lock screen, the numbers in the PIN pad aren't in a randomized order.

What's even more concerning is that I can bypass this PIN request by simply swiping from the left edge of the screen (effectively hitting the "back" button). After doing so, I'm taken to the normal lock screen with my usual background, and I'm able to unlock the device with fingerprint authentication as usual.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior? Is this expected, or could it be some kind of bug? I'd appreciate any insight into this.

You should be prompted for your PIN or password after restarting. Unlocking with your fingerprint shouldn't work after a restart.

This happens to me too. What I usually do is wait a few seconds before my phone figures things out and it all works as expected. Usually the PIN isn't randomized if the previous profile's PIN isn't randomized. And I also have to dismiss the PIN screen to unlock with my fingerprint.

GrapheneOS You're right, he isn't bypassing anything, but I know what he is talking about. When switching back to the owner profile, I have noticed this happen where it asks for the PIN on the first instance of the screen that pops up. Hitting the back "button" (or swiping left depending on your setting will return it back to normal. Turning off the screen and turning it back on also works.
