Gettings Apps only from Play Store?

I know some people, which only download Apps from the Play Store, because of the Security. They like Accrescent but avoid Github. They do not make a difference when it comes to non Google Versions. For example, I prefer non Google Versions more but I like the Security of Play Store more too, than Github.

Is it the right way to just download everything from the Play Store, without prefering the non Google Versions if available? Because for me I think degoogling is important.

There is no guarantee that the apps published on Github are free of Google libraries and SDKs. For example, the APK of Ente Photos on Github is not FOSS while other projects like Aves Gallery do publish FOSS versions on Github.

Developers usually just rely on F-Droid to build and publish FOSS versions of their apps so they don't have to build and maintain another variant themselves. F-Droid however has a lot of security issues and flaws and is not officially recommended by the GrapheneOS team.

Considering all of the above, I'd get all my apps from the Play Store and be done with it.

Some apps include Google libraries in their PlayStore version. One infamous example is Calculator++. Telegram is also like that.

You'd have to actively look up which app varies in its Play/github versions, and such info may not always be available.

Instead you can use F-Droid, which is understandably not recommended but still very convenient.
Alternatively, use Obtainium, you have to manually input each app & its github link, but once you set it up, it's smooth sailing.
