Updates Keep Killing My Battery

So, this only happens when there's an update. This has happened the last 2 updates. Pixel 8, new. I have phone on charger on nightstand while I sleep, I wake up and battery is showing 100%, then I see there was an update so I tap on "Reboot." Well, when the phone reboots, it outs me at 65% battery. This ONLY happens when an update happens. Anyyyy other day, it's fine.

43t34fg4 the AoT optimization is a CPU heavy workload (on P6 I can fell the phone getting warm). The more apps you have the more battery it drains.

There is a battery calibration feature in android. It allows for example to more accurately define the time remaining and battery percentage to show to the user. This is useful as the battery ages and lose capacity.
If, and only if, the battery is reported as 85%, you reboot, and 30 seconds later it is reported at 65%, this might be because the battery calibration was reset.
Shown value and real value does not always match and it's fine. One time I disconnected the battery of a phone, and connected it straight to a USB power supply providing stable voltage. The battery indicator would still get from 100% to 85% 😂. That nice faking, android.

Are you immediately checking the battery after reboot, or do you let it sit in BFU state for several hours (while you go back to sleep, for example)?

Maybe you have an app that can't do what it wants to do BFU, and just keeps trying in a loop until you unlock?

I feel like checking Settings > Battery > Battery Usage would be informative.
