Hi guys, on my new build device from the latest intel techniques guide (1.10.24) i have only managed to get to the seed vault page with no option to save to USB, have i inadvertently turned something off?

Does the backup usb wire have to be connected to the machine that installed the original software? Does that make a difference?

Im not sure anything is backed up by just pressing the verify seed vault key also.

Any help appreciated.

thanks for the reply, I clicked on usb c and enabled it with no restrictions, when i click on system in settings then backup it just gives me 12 words to write down. if i hit confirm then then another page appears to confirm those 12 words. Am i doing something wrong?

I have now attached a lead to the computer but still no option to save a backup there just same as above.

Not sure its possible to backup directly to a PC?

Most reliable and complete results come from making the backup on the devices internal storage. Also enable device to device in expert settings.

Even then it is unreliable so best to also somehow make alternative backups of important data.

i dont get the three dots on my screen sorry to be a pain

Are they bottom right by any chance, if so i will have to sort a menu edit out.

SeedVault backups are encrypted. To restore data from a backup those 12 words are 100% necessary - if they are lost then the backup is permanently useless.

SeedVault thus insists that you record the passphrase words somewhere (at least long enough to re-enter them once) before it will let you choose a backup destination.

If you have not yet done the passphrase verification step it is necessary to do that before continuing. And it is necessary to carefully record the passphrase somewhere that you will be able to find it later (not somewhere on the phone).

dhffkjadhsfkaj SeedVault at present is not particularly user-friendly and not very automatic. And, to be clear, it doesn't always back everything up or even correctly restore everything it reported that it did back up. So it is important to also manually back up what you can -- for example, calls and messages can be backed up with the "SMS Import/Export" app.

The three-dots menu mentioned by Carlos-Anso should be at the upper right of the SeedVault main screen.
